Neath Port Talbot Budget and Council Tax 2021/22

Neath Port Talbot Budget and Council Tax 2021/22 – Plaid want you to have your say.
The Labour-controlled Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council is consulting on its budget for 2021-2022.
Council budgets are complex and help to pay for a wide range of services.
These are difficult times for many families, and Council services have been important throughout the Covid period. Approximately 25% of the budget comes from the COUNCIL TAX, with 75% from Welsh Government.
For 2021 Neath Port Talbot is proposing a 3.75% INCREASE in Council Tax – but our area already has one of the highest Council Tax rates in Wales. We have been among the highest for over 25 years, but during that time many services have been cut under both Conservative and Labour Governments.
NPT’s Council Tax is far higher than the Welsh average and all our neighbouring councils.
Plaid Cymru is the main opposition to Labour on Neath Port Talbot Council – where we have 15 hard-working councillors.
We are scrutinising and questioning the budget, and will be pressing the Labour-controlled Council to:
• Keep the Council Tax as low as possible
• Invest in front line services to help our communities
• Ensure value for money.
• Call on the UK and Welsh Governments to introduce fairer funding for local council services.
We want you to have YOUR say about the budget – but it’s important for everyone to reply to the Budget Consultation on the council website before 12th February so that your voice is heard. https://www.npt.gov.uk/5907
